Roy Chapman Andrews is a Public Charter School developed in partnership with the
School District of Beloit to provide choice to our students and families. We offer an
intimate learning environment for students who benefit from a self-directed learning style.
We work together to foster a safe learning environment that cultivates creative thinking and
problem solving.
Roy Chapman Andrews Academy (RCAA) is a Charter School created under the
provisions of Wisconsin Statute 118.40.
Every three years the RCAA Governing Board and the SDB Board of Education enter
into a contractual agreement that defines the relationship and responsibilities between the
two entities. The SDB employs all RCAA staff, provides operational funds and the facility
for RCAA.
The RCAA Governing Board has autonomy in determining policies related to student
instructional programming, grading, evaluation methods, graduation requirements, staff
work schedules, student conduct, (excluding expulsions), as well as expenditures from
District allocated funds and federal grant funds designated for RCAA. The RCAA Governing
Board meets monthly to discuss and/or decide the variety of issues related to these topics.
The RCAA Governing Board consists of at least seven (7) voting members: At least (4)
parents, (1) member of the SDB Board of Education, at least (2) members-at-large, and no
more than (2) SDB employees.
RCAA is named after Beloit native Roy Chapman Andrews. According to Roy,
"Always there has been an adventure just around the corner - and the world is full
of corners!"
We agree and have high hopes and expectations for the adventures that are ahead for
RCAA! We invite you to visit, see our space, share our vision, and join us as we plan
forward for our children’s future!
We invite you to consider joining the RCAA Governing Board.
If you are interested in learning more about the Board,
Ask Principal Goecks for an RCAA Governing Board application.
The Board meets once a month for about an hour.
